报告题目:The cognitive neural basis of object knowledge

报告摘要:

Our knowledge about the world serves as a foundation for various cognitive processes including language, object recognition and use, reasoning, and problem solving. How is conceptual knowledge represented in the brain? I will present a series of experiments in my lab that explored this issue, focusing on two issues: 1) The nature of object representation in the visual ventral pathway; 2) The structural and functional basis of the binding across widely distributed object representations across modalities.  We used a convergent of approaches including brain imaging studies with healthy, congenitally blind, and brain-damaged individuals, and the overall results challenge a common view of simple binding of modality-specific attributes for object representation.


报告人简介:

毕彦超,北京师范大学认知神经科学与学习国家重点实验室、IDG/麦戈文脑科学研究院教授、PI。于2006年哈佛大学心理学系脑、认知、行为专业获得博士学位。核心研究兴趣为语义、知识与语言的认知神经基础。973青年专项首席科学家、国家自然科学基金委优秀青年、中组部万人计划青年拔尖人才、教育部新世纪人才。任Scientific Reports杂志编委;获Sackler Scholars Programme in Psychobiology、美国心理学会Observer新星奖(Rising Star)、茅以升青年科技奖等奖项。
